Everland’s panda Fubao departed on the 3rd and will soon return to the Shenshuping base of the Panda Garden in Sichuan, China. A large number of fans gathered at Everland early in the morning, despite heavy rain outside, to bid farewell to FuBao in person.
Many adults and children were visibly upset to see FuBao leaving Korea, holding umbrellas, wiping tears, and even shouting “Don’t leave,” demonstrating FuBao’s significance in everyone’s hearts.
Everland announced that FuBao would arrive at the Shenshuping base of the Panda Garden in Sichuan, China, on the 3rd. He will accompany the conservationist Jiang Zheyuan and is expected to return to Korea next year.
In about 3 to 4 days, FuBao will have to leave, starting a new life alone with his new caretakers. Fubao bid farewell to the public on March 3rd. At that time, fans lined up for 7 hours just to see him for 5 minutes, and even afterward, they were reluctant to leave. Staff had to come out to persuade fans to go home.
Mr. Jiang, who has cared for FuBao since he was a cub, is also reluctant to say goodbye. He has always treated FuBao as his beloved child. Mr. Jiang finally said to FuBao, “Thank you so much for coming to me.”
Before this journey, Mr. Jiang also conducted long-distance travel training for FuBao, such as stabilizing in a special transport cage, hoping that FuBao’s future caregivers could continue to love and care for him well. He also secretly hoped that “FuBao could think of himself a little.”

Fubao was born on July 20, 2020. He is the first panda born in Korea. However, according to the terms of leasing pandas from China, pandas born abroad still belong to China. Conservation facilities must be returned within 4 years, and at that time, China and Korea also agreed that pandas born in Korea must be returned before they turn 4 years old. Therefore, Fubao is expected to return to the panda conservation facility on April 3rd this year.
