The story began when Kathryn, a veterinary technician, first encountered the critically ill puppy, Sally. Sally had pneumonia, had difficulty breathing, her body turned “blue”, and her survival seemed improbable.
Fortunately, Kathryn had prepared an oxygen chamber to supply the dog in a timely manner. She also assessed that the dog would need to be on oxygen for a long time to fully address the respiratory issues.
For several weeks, Kathryn cared for the puppy inside and outside the oxygen chamber. However, the dog struggled, wanting to get out and live like other dogs. Just a few seconds outside, the puppy panted heavily and looked exhausted and pitiable.
Kathryn persevered in caring for the puppy, even moving the oxygen chamber so the dog could see the surroundings, lifting its spirits and making it more stable.
To train the puppy to get used to the air outside the oxygen chamber, Kathryn decided to regularly let the puppy out for about 15 seconds, gradually increasing the time. The aim was to get the dog’s lungs working and familiar with the outside air.
After several weeks, of extending the outside time from 15 seconds to 3 minutes, things seemed to be getting better. Remarkably, the dog’s respiratory ability improved miraculously.
One day, the nurse decided to take Sally outdoors, and indeed, the dog played on the grass, basked in the sun, and breathed the fresh air… The dog had made a lot of progress, undoubtedly this was Sally’s happiest moment, living like a normal dog!
Afterward, Sally no longer wanted to stay in the oxygen chamber but tried to sneak out. Fortunately, her progress was so positive that she was deemed fully recovered.
Finally, Sally went for walks in the park, went swimming, ran, played her favorite games, and many other activities.
From a weak puppy, seemingly without life, to now enjoying a joyful, healthy life. Truly a miraculous journey, thanks to the dedicated care of the kind-hearted nurse, Kathryn.
