This is the story of Lugiatu, a truck driver in the United States, on a long-distance journey with her dog Panfilo. While driving through Santa Fe, New Mexico, having left home in Maryland, Panfilo ran off and went missing.
Lugiatu tirelessly searched animal shelter websites around Santa Fe, hoping that someone would find and rescue her dog. However, days passed with no leads.
Despite the challenges, she refused to give up, checking information about rescued dogs at various facilities every day. Seventeen days after Panfilo disappeared, a dog resembling him was found by the Animal Protection Center and Humanitarian Society of Santa Fe.
The lost dog was rescued, and indeed, it was Panfilo.
Lugiatu returned to Maryland and flew to New Mexico to reunite with her dog. The moment Lugiatu and Panfilo reunited was truly touching.
As soon as Panfilo saw Lugiatu, it started wagging its tail vigorously, overflowing with joy. Lugiatu couldn’t hold back tears of happiness at the reunion with her beloved friend.
