Drools, a 4-year-old Pit Bull-Boxer mix, arrived at Conour Animal Shelter in Monte Vista, Colorado nearly two years ago.
Despite his cheerful and affectionate nature, Drools has been at the shelter for a record-breaking 720 days with slim prospects of adoption.
Kacey Widetich, a “Relay For Rescue” volunteer, has been caring for Drools for several months and believes that one of the reasons he has gone unnoticed all this time is his lack of exposure. Drools’ “undesirability” is also due to the fact that he grows anxious around other cats and dogs and must be the sole pet in the house.
Constant rejections have taken a toll on Drools’ emotional well-being. Recently, he has become noticeably lonely, despondent, and hopeless. Kacey recognized his fading spirit immediately and now dedicates her evenings to caring for Drools in his kennel, providing him with love and comfort.
In a desperate attempt to find Drools the perfect home, the shelter has turned to the public for assistance. Drools is wary of strangers at first, but once he interacts with them, he becomes extremely devoted and loving. He enjoys moderate to vigorous hobbies and gets along well with youngsters.
Please contact Conour Animal Shelter or Relay For Rescue if you believe Drools is the dog for you.
