In 2016, Joanne Lefson rescued a one-month-old piglet from a slaughterhouse. Soon, it became clear that this pig was no ordinary animal as it began painting on canvases at a sanctuary in South Africa. Known as Pigcasso, he’s dubbed the Picasso of pigs.
One of his paintings, ‘Wild and Free’, sold for €20,000 to a German buyer, breaking the record for the most expensive artwork by an animal, previously held by a chimpanzee named Congo.
Pigcasso has created numerous artworks over the years, some of which are auctioned for sale. Joanne noticed that the pig spared a few paintbrushes in his stall, inspiring her to nurture his painting talent. Pigcasso quickly learned and became the skilled artist he is today. Check out his masterpieces and share your thoughts below!
