Truck driver adopts abused stray cat, discovers joy

7 days trước

Paul Robertson, a dedicated truck driver, finds solace in his work despite its solitary nature.

Over the years, he formed a deep bond with a cat named Howie, who became his cherished companion on long journeys. Howie’s passing in 2017 left Paul heartbroken.

Despite his profound sadness from losing Howie, Paul sought companionship and found it in Percy, a ginger cat with a tough past but a loving nature.

Adopting Percy from an animal shelter, Paul discovered a perfect co-pilot who joyfully accompanied him on every journey, regardless of conditions.

“He’s very affectionate and loves to crawl on my lap, up my chest, and then rub cheeks with me,” Paul wrote on Facebook. “He loves to play. He purrs a lot. And of course, he’s a cat: he loves to eat and he loves to snooze.”

In February 2017, Paul was devastated when Percy went missing after a mishap at a rest stop.

Despite the impending storm and offers of help on social media, Paul had to continue his 400-mile journey as a truck driver.

Miraculously, Percy reappeared, dirty and tired, under the truck after two deliveries, bringing immense relief to Paul.

Reflecting on the experience, Paul said, “The other day I caught myself laughing at one of his antics and I thought: ‘It’s nice to live alone sometimes ’cause you can have everything your own way – but I wouldn’t be laughing like this if I were alone.’ Percy is good for my spirit and soul.”

Paul’s bond with Percy is truly special, and their story is a testament to the profound connection between humans and their pets. We look forward to seeing more of their adventures together.
