Woman discovers ‘overweight’ dog sleeping under bushes, senses something’s amiss

7 days trước

Last month, Suzette Hall received a troubling call from a Good Samaritan about a stray dog found under a bush with a worryingly large belly.

The overheated and overweight dog appeared heavily pregnant, prompting concerns she could go into labor soon.

The Good Samaritan, Lily, called Logan’s Legacy when she found the pregnant dog, Gianna, in the bushes. Hall and volunteer Mary arrived and were heartbroken to see Gianna there.

Gianna, overdue and stressed, posed a risk of going into labor during the rescue. Despite attempts to leash her, she remained wary. So, Hall and Mary set a trap with tasty treats.

Within minutes, Gianna entered the trap, and they swiftly transported her to the animal hospital.

Luckily, Gianna arrived at Camino Pet Hospital still pregnant. Despite the stress, she quickly felt at home with her new friends at the clinic.

The vet team thoroughly examined Gianna, performing an ultrasound to count her surprising number of puppies.

With urgency, Kim Lavigne stepped in as Gianna’s emergency foster mom. Three days later, and just six days after her rescue, Gianna delivered a lovely litter of puppies at Lavigne’s home.

The mama dog was in high spirits post-birth, thrilled to have her babies in a secure environment.

Weeks after the puppies’ birth, the entire family is thriving. Gianna’s maternal instincts have blossomed as her lively pups grow stronger.

Hall aims to find permanent homes for the whole family once the puppies are ready to leave their mother. She continues to enjoy updates on Gianna and her pups from their foster mom in the meantime.
